General Information
Mustafa S. Dogan is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Department at Aksaray University.
His main research is on evaluating climate change and solar PV effects on small and large-scale hydropower in California. He is building an advanced hydropower optimization model to evaluate those effects. He is also interested in optimizing pumped-storage hydropower operations, where water is pumped to upper reservoir when prices are low, and then released during peak times when prices are high enough.
Mustafa is also interested in hydroeconomic modeling. He worked on CALVIN, a large-scale hydroeconomic optimization model for California’s entire intertied water supply system. CALVIN represents about 90 percent of California’s water demand, major surface reservoirs, groundwater basins, and environmental demands with more than 5 million decision variables.
